Day 02: The meaning behind your blog name.

My blog name is titled (as you can tell) Confessions of A Chronic Wanderluster.

But why?

To begin with I had originally started this blog as an outlet for myself. I pretty much kept it annoymous (as in I didn't advertise it to people I knew...but I didn't hide it either), and was going to use the blog as an outlet. A place to mostly to share my dreams, and ideals...about traveling and about life.

If you know me, you know I am constantly dreaming of where I can go and what I can do next. That is the story behind this blog.

My freshman year of college, at the College of Charleston, we were given our orientation shirts with this quote from Mark Twain, "

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

Since then, I have been obsessed with exploring, dreaming and discovering...and this blog was intended (though failed) to be my outlet to voice it. I hope I continue to dream, explore and discover and I hope I begin to record it as I do.

A Recent Picture of you and 15 Interesting Facts About Yourself

In order to get myself writing again I am going to take part in a 30 Day Challenge.

Day 1: A Recent Picture of You and 15 Interesting Facts About Yourself.

Well here it goes, I'm not sure if anything of these "Facts" are interesting...but, I am what I am!

1. I have to read a magazine in order.......it literally makes my skin crawl to do it out of order. Like I can't skip around...If an artile is finished on a back page...I can't even turn to it I have to wait untill I get there. It's so weird I know.

2. I constantly listen to songs and try to fit them into my life. Sometimes, I make connections with the most ridiculous of lines in the most ridiculous of ways. Other times it makes me borderline depressed.

3. I was asked to sign a witness certificate for two of my favorite people who are getting married(well they are becoming an offical domestic partnership). They are a homosexual couple who have been together for 10 years! I am sooo blessed and honored that they choose me to do this for them!

4. I have a history of getting my head stuck. When I was two years old I got my head stuck in a McDonald's in New Orleans, over the baby shark tank at Sea World Orlando and on the 2nd floor balcony of a parents friends house. Luckily, I was able to step through each time.....well at my neighbor's house I had to step through onto a ladder and grease up the bars...and at Sea World..I'm still not sure how I got out...but clearly I did.

5. I love trivia. In college I would go and play trivia approximately 4 nights a week. Now, I try to play once a week and I host it once a week. Just call me your neighborhood trivia host!

6. I cannot lay in a bed in real clothes. I cannot stand if someone wears real clothes into my bed. I just can't take it. You must be naked or in pajamas if you choose to be in my bed!

7.I'm obssesed with making list. I want to make lists for everything....I find it fascinating.....and it allows me to feel connected. I make lists for everything but what people usually make lists for. I don't make To-Do Lists or Shopping Lists...I make lists for everything that doesn't require a list....a top 5 make out songs list for example.

8. I can be self-destructive. Not when it comes to physical harm...I'm not a cutter, risk-taker, alcoholic or drug user...but I constantly put myself in emotionally destrictive situations...that don't even seem that bad...but that destroy who I am.

9. I vote for President Barack Obama, and I am proud. I voted for him because I believe in an equal America and I believe the Supreme Court and it's process and who represents us on the Supreme Court is the most important branch of government.

9. I am a mess. I can never get organized....and I rarely do laundry...thank god I own way to many pairs of underwear.

10. I always say Spring is my favorite..but really it's Fall.....why do I lie to others and myself?

11. I get super emotional when watching sporting events or sports news. I feel like that is the chance we get to see people's dreams come true...or shatter....I cry when watching it 95% of the time!

12. I am super terrified of heights...I'm more terrified of heights now than I have ever been. It's weird. This week I nearly had a panic attack when my Department Chair climbed on to the roof and took a photo I was convinced she was going to fall to her death....then again at the Regional Swim Meet. A few of the divers were going on the platform (10 meters) and I freaked I was convinced they were going to die. Even though I knew better...

13. I have acromegaly, which means, medically, I am a giant!

14. Halloween is my favorite Holiday...and for the second year in  a row I did nothing for it. :( My work is crazy at this time of year!

15. I am a bit obsessive....I currently am on a House, sushi, craft beer and red wine kick....

Fill in the Blank Friday

Happy Friday Everyone!
I hope everyone else is as ready for the weekend I am! I also hope everyone else is a little less busy!

1. Something I swore I'd never do, but have ended up doing anyway is tons of things..the things that sticks out to me the most is that I swore I would never like to eat Tomatos...I love them now....

2. Something I've always wanted to do is take a year to travel the world, see the sights and enjoy life.

3. Something I have absolutely no desire to ever do is bungee jump or sky dive. No way. No day .Amen Lauren!

4. The best thing I ever did was sign my college scholarship for the College of Charleston. So many amazing opportunities opened up for me there, and I made a ton of incredible friends. I learned a lot and loved life....I even studied abroad.

5. When it comes to trying new things, I am excited but nervous! .

6. One thing I've never done is eat a Big Mac. Weird I know.

7. My favorite thing to do is hmmm I'm going to keep this one for me.

Eff, Mary, Kill: Disney Princes

photobucket

I love Eff, Marry, Kill.

Today's choices are Disney Princes!

So my choices are Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid, the Beast from Beauty & The Beast, and John Smith from Pochantaus.

My Choices:

Eff: Prince Eric - look at that smile, those blue eyes...and if you watch the movie you know for sure he knows how to tease someone just enough to keep their interest! I mean he has Ariel on the edge of her seat. I'd definietly Eff the hell out of Prince Eric.

Marry: The Beast. Umm he can keep in an enchanted house that can make me anything I want to eat at all hours of the night, and he has a library that is out of this world. SIGN ME UP! Plus, since he's the "beast," I'll always feel tiny and petite next to him. Plus, he's a beast...I'm sure that would translate to lots of fun in the bedroom. The Beast is definietly marriage material.

Kill: John Smith- Call me a new aged woman but I'm not about all the conquering, and white supremacy. Yes, he eventually sees Pochantaus's side...but not after trying to take land away from the natives. I'd off John Smith and give us all a break!

Friday, October 5, 2012

1.. The last thing I ate was so healthy...a McDonald's Breakfast Burrito...it was a craving...Idk...but it was delicious.

2. The last time I went to the beach was Saturday! I went to visit my best friends in St. Pete and we spend a couple of hours laying around the beach, gossiping, laughing, swimming and reading.

3. My last vacation was I guess technically was Saturday when I went to St. Pete for the night? Before that? a 20 day Europe extravaganza!.

4. The last place I drove was to work!

5. The last song I listened to was Blow Me (One Last Kiss)- Pink.

6. The last thing I watched on TV was House, I'm addicted. .

7. The last time I said "I love you" was when I just got off the phone with my Dad! Like, 30 seconds ago.!

Fill in the Blank Friday

1. My first memory is from when I was three years old. It was my Birthday, and I was in pre-school....the teacher who was walking in front of me turned around and tripped and fell on her face..and split her lip open. ...and I refused to go into the classroom the next day because I was terried...it looks like goopy mustard, she needed stitches...in fact maybe that is why I have a fear of stitches....I remember I was wearing a pink Birthday crown made out of construction paper.....still makes me shudder.

2. My first love was Jeff Andes. He's still one of my best friends....I mean I had crushes before that but I fell for him hard....even though we never made it past the friend zone...the timing was always off...but I think he's right where he belongs with his wife Bobbi Jo.

3. My very first favorite color was pink. Totally weird for me. I'm totally a green, blue, and purple girl now. But I loved the color pink...my bedroom in first grade....dark pink bottom, pale pink top, with a flowery border..oh yeah this tom boy had a girl side.

4. The first time I really felt like a "grown-up" was when ...oh man I'm struggling....because I still don't feel like a grown-up....I can't even think of an a-ha moment...I'm sure its there......last night I had the realization I'm too old to even try out for the Real World....maybe that's it! lol.

okay...I'm not obsessed with Disney...though I do love it...and I will never grow up.

5. The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is hit snooze...seriously...a couple of times and roll over and close my eyes and hope for a few more minutes of sleep.....after that I go to the bathroom....and make sure all 4 of my alarms are turned off....clearly I'm a bit paranoid about oversleeping...

6. The first CD (cassette tape, record, etc...) I ever bought was the casette tape...Dookie- Green Day, and Pearl Jam's Vs....I was in about third grade...I was pretty awesome...still love them.

7. My first car was a teal blue Ford Escort, ZX2...I loved that car...it was cursed...but man I loved it..it had a 6-cd changer in the back...and was totaled when an elderly woman ran a red light because she was too busy paying attention to her grandson in the back seat.....

Top 10 Best Fictional Boyfriends

So Chelsea Fabar over at ThoughtCatalog.com (my favorite site ever) has come up with a list of her Top 10 Fictional Boyfriends....and I thought this was an amazing idea. So, it inspired me to come up with my own list. Without further ado...my top 10 fictional boyfriends.....I was going to do more with books and I got off track.....I may have to do a book only one soon!

Peeta Mellark - Total devotion, a crush that transcends beyond a town and into a death arena. The boy with the bread. He's willing to give up his life to save hers....Peeta, is a dream guy. Devoted with a capital D. Peeta is the perfect man.

Mr. Darcy----duh! Rich, sexy, intelligent and a bit of an ass. Mr. Darcy is the quintissential fictious boyfriend. Plus, once he sets his mind on something he doesn't give up (hmmm...sounds familiar). I believe that the way he treats people is probably the reason I take so much crap...but when he decides your worth it or you are someone who means something to him he will do everything in his power to help them out. Mr. Darcy...I will get dirty with him at any time. I choose this Mr. Darcy over Colin's because I find him sexier.

Hello Agent Derek Morgan, sexy, smart, intuitive...Agent Derek Morgan has it all. Plus, who cannot help but love his relationship with Garcia. He's kind, thoughtful and I want to run my hands all over his body....and gaze into his eyes...but also how bad ass is his job? He'd also have to give me TONS of space as he travels a lot for work!

The Beast- Beauty and the Beast. He's broken and confused and hurt, but he's also loaded and can provide you with all the books you can read and all the food you can want...that will be made by the various animated furniture. The Beast is a total catch.

Marshall Erikson- How I Met Your Mother. He is so devoted to Lilly it's adorable. Add to that he is spontaneous, hilarious, fun and a total teddybear...and you can't help but love him. He's an enviromental lawyer who cares about his surroundings, love his mom and brothers and can talk sports.Plus, he's TALLLLLL aren't tall guys the best?

 Luke Brandon- The Shopaholic Series

Sexy...check.
Rich....check.
Able to put up with crazy/unique....check
Intelligent....check.
World Traveler...check.
Luke Brandon....check.

Noah Calhoun- The Notebook. Seriously how can he NOT be on your list? Builds a house to honor you, wait on you, love you. Does nothing but wait for you and then devotes his life to you and retells you the story of your love EVERY day. Not to mention when  you're together as kids you have a blast.... swimming, fairs, and exposes you to things you've never had the pleasure to expereince....Noah is a winner. Plus look at that chemistry....

Gerry- PS I LOVE YOU: who wouldn't want a letter or a series of tasks from their dearly departed? Throughout the movie we get snippets of this love that seems to be fun, passionate and exciting...and we also see the love of a husband whose had to leave his wife behind. He wasn't perfect but he was true.

Wesley- The Princess Bride: As you wish.....Wesley goes off to try to become worthy of the farmer's daughter. Wesley, beautiful, well-spoken, fighter Wesley.

Jim Halpert- The Office. Cutest/Sweetest/Funniest guy ever. Perfect guy next door. How can you not love the guy who messes with Dwight? Look at that face!

Fill in the Blank Friday

1. Something I am very proud of is my college swimming scholarship. I realized it happend 8 years ago, but...I worked so hard for it...and it's opened up so many doors for me. I am sooo proud of myself for at such a young age dedicating 30+hours a week to something so hard!

South Carolina Gamecocks Ladies Black Distressed University Logo Long Sleeve T-Shirt2. My favorite thing about myself is my ability to connect with people. I've been told I'm very empathetic and have a 6th sense when it comes to telling how someone is feeling. Sometimes I try to ignore it but I love it as a teacher when I can see how if there is an ulterior motive for how a student is feeling.

3. My favorite color for fall is garnette & black! GAMECOCK FOOTBALL!

4. Something I've been learning lately is that I can't control everything...sometimes I need to trust my assistants and my co-teachers and just relax....or take a break....things will not go to hell.

5. A book I am reading now/have read recently is The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. So far I LOVE it.

6. My favorite Pandora Station is The Fun Station....I love it! It's base don the band Fun! I also love to listen to the Shake That Monkey Station when I'm in the mood to dance.....or the film score station when playing music for my kids at school.

7. This weekend I will be Buster sitting, relaxing, coaching and watching football! I need a break!

Friday, September 14, 2012

1. Right now the weather where I live is pleasant. It's still hot, but its actually had a great breeze and at night and in the morning I've been wearing a jacket by the pool! It's Sepetember but it's plesant here in sunny Florida!

2. The best piece of advice I've been given is if you're depressed you're living in the past, if you're anxious you're living in the future. Live in the NOW.
3. My most favorite person in all the world is my brother. He's always there I can't even explain our relationship...but I'm sooo lucky to have him.

4. If I were to have a "mission statement" for my life, it would be "
Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none-William Shakespeare

5. My most favorite item in my closet the one shouldered blue dress I wore to chaperones last years prom. I LOVE IT!

6. The best cure for a bad day is sex. Sex, makes everything better.

7. Today is Busy but exciting!.

10 Things I Want to Accomplish Before 2013

center>

Mom2MemphisandRuby

Ten Things I Want to Accomplish Before 2013

1. Move out! I moved back in with my mother and step-father to work on paying off medical bills after my brain surgery in 2009/2010...and I'm STILL there. I need to move out....before 2013!

2. Lose 20lbs. That's pretty self-evident.

3. Make the final decision: Tattoo or No. I'm dying for a wanderlust tattoo but I'm afraid. I don't know where I want it....the only thing holding me back is if it will ruin my wedding photos one day...I don't even have a boyfriend...so ruining wedding photos shouldn't even be close to a concern...but there ya go. I mean I could always cover it with makeup or ROCK IT! So if I'm going to get one I'm doing it on my 27th Birthday...it's my golden Birthday!

4. Clean and re-organize my room and closet. Get rid of EVERYTHING I don't wear.

5. I will pay off my credit cards. (Europe got away from me..so have medical bills).

6. I will come up with a system in which I am organized....this means, using my new amazing erincondren.com planner, keeping up with my laundry and my housework and working on my classroom organization.

7. I will make plans for New Years Eve that will make me smile

8. I will finally cut out all the t-shirts for my t-shirt quilt.

9. I will print out the photos I want.

10. I'll get my computer fixed.

Fill in the Blank Friday!

1. My favorite grade in school was my Senior year, while I loved every year of school my Senior year I made more time for my friends and for fun, it was also the worst because I fought with my mother constantly. But, the fact that I didn't always stress about swimming and made more time for my friends just made it a whole other experience. " .

2. My favorite teacher was Mrs. Fifer & Mr. Moore. Mrs Fifer was my Kendergarten teacher and was the type of teacher who made every student feel as though they were her favorite. She came to my house just to see my bedroom, and when I graduated from high school and recieved a swimming scholarship she mailed me an embroidered towel to my house with a note of congratulations. Back then I was an extremely bright child and she never held me back but encouraged me. Mrs. Fifer was amazing. Mr. Moore was my physics teacher in high school and was also my co-worker my first four years of teaching. Mr Moore tought physics using cartoons, was obsessed with Albert Einstein even brought in banana bread with icing for Albert Einstein's Birthday. He was obsessed with M&M's and always had brain food for his budding physicist. Mr. Moore was the gold standard for teaching...when you were his student you were enthralled and amazed by him and as his co-worker (even though I teach English) I wanted to be with him. I got bonus points for being a red head...and then Mr. Moore shunned me for becoming an English teacher and notjoining the Science Department. Mr. Moore actually died at school over Spring Break when he was working in his classroom. I miss him.

3. The highest level of education I have completed is Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with a minor in Hospitality & Tourism (emphasis: Event Planning).

4. School lunches for me were usually unpredictable. In elementary school I usually packed unless it was a cool lunch day, and my mom would add in notes....sandwiches were usually PB&J, lunchables, etc. In Middle School I bought from the ala carte line and would usually eat pizza, subway and some sort of ice cream (thank god I was swimming 5 hours a day!). In high school I bought lunch at school Freshman year it was usually orange food day - chicken sandwich (it was orange), orange soda and peanutbutter cookies, and then Sophomore, Junior and Senior year we were allowed to leave for lunch...which on Monday's meant Fazzoli's and Wednesday's was Fatboy's Breakfast...the other days were split between Chik Fil A, DQ, Publix, Subway, McDonalds, etc....(once again thank god I was swimming 6 hours a day...it was more)..well Sophomore year I wasn't allowed but I would go anyways!

5. The amount of money you'd have to pay me to go back to high school would be well I work at the high school I attended....so I get paid a salary every year to go back. Haha, I honestly loved high school and college. Sure I was angsty and moody and had some issues...but I also loved it. I worked hard, played hard and had a great group of friends.

6. A few things that will always remind me of going back to school are: Packs of loose leaf paper and highlighters........I'm a huge fan of new school supplies.

7. The first day of school was always something I was always excited about. I loved new school supplies, I was usually nervous but I loved school. I loved learning...probably why I ended up as a teacher.

Fill in the Blank Friday

1. Over this labor day weekend I will be having fun! Two of my best friends are coming into town to celebrate on of their Birthday's and I'm stoked! Nights out, brunch, bonding oh my!  Tonight it will kick off, hopefully, with loving on my nieces for a tiny bit and then a wine night with a bestie and a few of my favorites!

2. With the political debates going on right now, my thoughts are that I can't support a party or a candidate in which they condemn others for the choices they make or the lives they live. For me the most important thing in electing a President is what impact they may have on the Supreme Court...

3. Today I am a bit excited because my swim practices are cancelled untill Monday due to the fact that our swimming pool (because of flash flooding) resemebles a mud bath, but I'm also a bit sad because we have a lot of work to do!

4. The best thing I've cooked recently was a sandwich. I know ridiculous...but I really haven't had time to cook! But this sandwich, this sandwich was spectacular. I toasted the whole grain italian bread and drizzled it with olive oil & cracked pepper, slathered the bread in a balsalmic maynoaise, topped with sliced tomatos, and fresh mozzerella, a few slices of fresh prosciutto, fresh argula light tossed in olive oil, and salt & pepper and then devoured by me! SO Delicious! Haven't had time to cook...but damn that sandwich is special.

5. The last thing I bought was a Publix sub for my step-mom, step-brother and I. It was delicious. Clearly I've had time to do nothing.

6. The best movie I saw this summer was crap I haven't seen a single movie? Have I? I Don't think I have...I am dying to see Moonrise Kingdom, Batman, The Candidate and a slew of other films :(.

7. The best book I read this summer was Beautiful Ruins. It was easy to get into and fun. A perfect summer time book...and it was set in Italy and California so beautiful scenery to boot!

To get back into the blogging mode I am playing along with Lauren @ http://thelittlethingswedo.blogspot.com/. Go check her out and play along too!

Fill in the Blank

1. My favorite thing to do on Friday is leave work.

2. This Friday I am teaching all day, have swim practice and then have an event for the College of Charleston Alumni Association.

3. The best thing about a weekend is is that you can just be. I can just sit. I can just relax. I can just be.

4. Now that summer is almost over, I'm feeling excited. I'm ready for the clear, crisp days....for football for the excitement of everything that goes along with fall.

5. The best thing I did this summer was travel to Europe for 20 days!

6. The thing I'm looking forward to about fall is FOOTBALL and Swim Season!.

7. If I had to be stuck in one season for the rest of my life, I would choose spring! but I'd move football to spring!

Thursday, June 14, 2012

The blinking cursor is judging me.

I've been sitting here looking at it for an hour.

It just sits there and blinks.

I literally have no inspiration.

I have a 20 day European Adventure coming up...andI don't want to write about it.

I have a possible new apartment...and no desire to write about it....

Where have I gone?

Friday, June 1, 2012

I have a problem...

I have a problem....

and it's going to absolute shock the people who believe they know me in real life.....

I'm shy.

Okay, so I am not shy in the sense that I refuse to talk to people, or engage with others. I'm shy in the sense that if I am interested in you, in any way other than platonic....I close up....unless I'm talking to you via text...and then I say things I shouldn't.

However, I still close up.

I'm terrified of rejection and failure.

I realize you're probably reading this and thinking "who isn't?" But it's bad. It's so bad that I can't do anything. This is an old example. But once in middle school a boy had heard I liked him, came up to me told me he liked me to and we should talk about it, and I said "what, I don't like you." That was Curtis...and I had a HUGE crush on Curtis. The sad thing is...things haven't changed. I still can't talk openly..I have to feel secure. I didn't feel secure.

I think now that I could respond with a "ok, let's talk." But I'm also 26 years old. But if the guy doesn't mention it first I'll never go there...

Kind of like my other confession....

I've never made the first move. NEVER.

I slept with a guy for four years and never made a first move. I want too...turst me I want too, but I just can't be the first one to do it. I'm terrifed they'll change their mind...

How do I fix this? When will I gain the confidence? I know I am unhappy with my looks and myself. I'm not pretty, or sexy...but I do think I'm fun and loving. I'm always up to try new things and go on adventures....Why can't I embark on this adventure? Everyone who knows me thinks I'm confident, open, outgoing and  engaging...why can't I be with everyone? When will my fear of vulnerability go away?

Fill-In-The-Blank Friday!

It's time once again to join in with Laura @ http://thelittlethingswedo.blogspot.com/ for Fill-in-the-Blank Friday! I'm hoping this will help me get back into the groove! Sorry to be so boring! I promise more exciting things are to come!

1. Something that is very near and dear to my heart is, mentoring. I realize that sounds odd. But, I realize that is what I love most about teaching and coaching. Last night we had our Water Polo team banquet and I realized that their are kids whose lives I'm actually effecting. It's an amazing feeling.

2. 7 hours until it's offically the weekend, is good cause to celebrate .

3. The most fun I ever had was sitting in a cafe in Paris with four of my best friends drinking great wine, and laughing our asses off at anything and everything. There are other moments but that is one that truly sticks out.

4. True friends are the ones who feel like home. You know what I mean? You're comfortable with them, there is no topic off-limits. That going to their house feels like going home...that's true friendship...the kind where you never have to watch what you say or what you do, you can just be you....

5. Something that makes me terribly happy is traveling. I just get sooo excited! A new place to discover a new site to see, new people to meet...it's just amazing!.

6. A good way to spend a sunny day is on the boat with a cold beverage and a great group of people.

7. My favorite celebratory food is a chocolate chip cookie.....or ice cream.

Happy weekend!

Fill in the Blank Friday

Hello! Go on over and join in with Lauren @http://thelittlethingswedo.blogspot.com/ . You won't regret it I promise!

1. When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is, pee. I usally have to go pretty bad when I wake up considering how much I tend to drink (water, milk, alcohol you name it I down it like a camel).

2. I can hardly wait for  Prom on Saturday (yup I helped to plan and I will be chaperoning the Prom and I'm kinda excited), THe Lion King Play on Sunday (my dad and step-mom are treating my step-sister and I) Charleston Affair Weekend next weekend! A weekend in Charleston! YES!, and then I also can't wait for this summer July 17th and a trip to Europe seriously cannot come fast enough!

3. The quickest way to my heart is through a dog because there is soemthing about a dog or a person with a dog, or who loves dogs that is absolutely endearing .

4. A little known fact about me is I have to read a magazine in order...I can't flip through and read it without flipping through every page...it's weird.

5. The best part about my job is I have the chance to make an actual impact in a student life...I can actually make a difference in a child. It's a pretty awesome feeling.

6. Something I just couldn't live without my iPhone...it doubles as my alarm clock and I would never be at work on time without it...and then I would have no money to liiiive..

7. Something useful that I wish I knew how to do is change my own car oil...I feel like that would save some money...but I'm not sure I'm willing to...I also realized I don't know how to mow a lawn, sew, change a flat  tire, hang a picture...holy cow I am the LEAST HANDY PERSON EVER!!!

Have a great weekend, do something fun!
